E6'ers Pay Tribute to SMiLE

I thought I'd put this blog to bed for the week for the Thanksgiving holiday, but I just had to blog about this:
Brian Heater, who wrote an
interview with Beulah's Miles Kurosky that you can read at our site, has just contributed a tribute article for
Brian Wilson's SMiLE in New York Press, an alternative weekly. Heater asked 5 musicians and artists to pick their favorite track from the album and explain why they love it. What makes it worth mentioning here is that 3 of the 5 interview subjects are E6'ers: W. Cullen Hart of
Circulatory System and
Olivia Tremor Control, Robert Schneider of
The Apples in Stereo, and Casper Fandango (aka Jason Nesmith) of
Casper & the Cookies.
Will picks "Do You Dig Worms?" (AKA "Do You Like Worms [Do You Dig Worms]?"), which the
Olivias covered on a
Beach Boys tribute album. Robert picks "Heroes & Villains," which he covered live with the
Apples; you can hear that recording on the
Let's Go! EP. Casper picks the lovely "Surf's Up." You can read their explanations below:
